Not free -I'm only human
Ok, I had to pay for some of the above stuff, but I think it's ok to spend a few dollars here and there. Actually, this picture cost me $43.77 which sounds astronomical, given my previous posts, but let me put it in context...
7 Jumbo packs of diapers
7 Jumbo packs of pull-ups
15 cake mixes
9 brownie mixes
10 half gallons of ice-cream
2 containers of Klondike bars
2 containers of kids yogurt
5 boxes of broth
4 Knorr side dishes
8 ready-bake cookie packs
11 containers super concentrated laundry detergent
AND
$35 worth of future store credit
So if you subtract that from the $43.77 you could say the above only cost me $8.77
The diapers alone would have cost $140 ($10 a pack with tax).
The detergent alone would have cost $69.74.
My total "savings" were a whopping $269.08.
Now, would I ever under normal circumstances buy ready-bake cookies or cake mixes? No. But my trusted Kitchen-aid, which worked like a slave for me for 14 years, gave up the ghost this summer. I soon discovered that creaming butter and sugar by hand is a real drag, so until I figure out a way to buy a new one (with coupons of course!), I'm making due with (nearly) free ready-bakes and cake.
