Pyper's Place

Pyper is a derivative of the English word Piper and means "flute player." When Cecilie was young, she knew a family that had a little girl named Piper (named after the actress Piper Laurie). She always liked the name and used it as soon as she could.

Woe is me

My good friend Jean Keenan is always telling me the funny things my kids say about me when they are at her house. A few days ago Pyper was there around dinner time and she was dropping heavy hints that she wanted to stay and eat. She told Jean how good her dinner smelled and how I never make anything that smells that good. Jean asked her what she usually eats for dinner. Pyper got a sad, downtrodden look on her face and replied, "brown beans... and maybe a little oatmeal". Jean thought this was hysterical. When I arrived to pick Pyper us Jean asked me what I was having for dinner. I told her we were having chicken enchiladas. Pyper looked very sheepish and then Jean told me what she'd been saying. Ah, kids.
