Solveig Splashes
Solveig was a bit tentative before she started to get into the splashing. It was funny to see her reaction as another child went by and send splashes her way. She had plenty of fun at at The Crown Fountain at Millennium Park.
Solveig is derived from the Old Norse elements sól "sun" and veig "strength". Solveig is a central character in the play Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen and she sings the famous "Solveig's Song." Cecilie had been thinking about the name Solveig when Mike approached her with the same name. Mike had listened to Ibsen's "Solveig's Song" on the train ride home and felt that this would be the perfect Norwegian name if we had a girl.
