Potty Time
Long after Solveig had made her way into our bed last night she started to really squirm around, rolling from one end of the bed to the other. Normally when she does this I just snuggle up to her and she settles back down to a sound sleep. Instead I had this thought to ask her if she needed to go pee, pee. She sat up and said, "need to go pee, pee." Of course she has said this many times during waking hours only to be sat on the toilet with no results. Despite the clock reading 4:30 something I decided to entertain her and sat her down on the toilet. You have probably correctly deduced, based on the subject matter and the fact that I wrote this post, that Solveig did her first pee that ended up in the actual toilet, and a rather long one to boot. It was very exciting, the kind of excitement that only a parent who has endured toilet training can fully appreciate. For us this is actually the beginning of the end, at least the beginning of the end of twelve plus years of diapers. We aren't out of the forest yet, but certainly we are in the woodlands, with the savanna in site. Three cheers for Solveig.
