Solveig's Sanctuary

Solveig is derived from the Old Norse elements sól "sun" and veig "strength". Solveig is a central character in the play Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen and she sings the famous "Solveig's Song." Cecilie had been thinking about the name Solveig when Mike approached her with the same name. Mike had listened to Ibsen's "Solveig's Song" on the train ride home and felt that this would be the perfect Norwegian name if we had a girl.

Enjoying the Snow

Yesterday, Mother Nature delivered a beautiful blanket of snow. All of the children came out to help me clear the walks and driveway. Solveig enjoyed frolicking around in the snow and was out with us the entire time.
