Solveig's Sanctuary

Solveig is derived from the Old Norse elements sól "sun" and veig "strength". Solveig is a central character in the play Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen and she sings the famous "Solveig's Song." Cecilie had been thinking about the name Solveig when Mike approached her with the same name. Mike had listened to Ibsen's "Solveig's Song" on the train ride home and felt that this would be the perfect Norwegian name if we had a girl.

Proud Moment

Solveig, with a proud and knowing look on her face, just came into the office and handed me the bowl from her potty. She had deposited both solid and liquid waste in it. I cheered her and she had such look of accomplishment on her face. Or, perhaps she was amused that her deed could prompt such an animated response out of her father. Either way it was a great moment for both of us. Soon (knock on wood) we will be out of the diaper business. Now that is awesome.

Strange... Kendra had a very different reaction when I did that to her last week.
