Solveig's Sanctuary

Solveig is derived from the Old Norse elements sól "sun" and veig "strength". Solveig is a central character in the play Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen and she sings the famous "Solveig's Song." Cecilie had been thinking about the name Solveig when Mike approached her with the same name. Mike had listened to Ibsen's "Solveig's Song" on the train ride home and felt that this would be the perfect Norwegian name if we had a girl.

Saga of a Haircut - Part Two

After staring at her head from all possible angles for 36 hours, it was decided that Torben's work did not pass parental muster. So, with heavy heart we took her back to the professionals and they "evened things out". Torben came along and said, "she looks just like baby Torben now!"

Think Mia Farrow, in "Rosemary's Baby".

She's still pretty cute, but will probably spend the next year being confused for a boy.
