Torben's Tree House

Torben is the Danish derivative of the Norwegian Torbjörn and means “Tor’s (Thor) bear.” Tor is the god of thunder in Norse mythology. When we named Torben we wanted a Norwegian name, but also wanted something pronounceable by English speakers. We liked Torbjörn but decided that the Danish derivative would be easier to pronounce so we went with Torben.

Torben's Birthday

For Torben's birthday we went to a place called the "All Aboard Diner". He was fascinated with all the train paraphernalia, and the best part was your meal is delivered by a train that runs around a track at the counter. After we ate the train also brought him a cupcake and all the waitresses sang "Happy Birthday". I think the older kids all really enjoyed it too.
